Robot monitoring

ME2Robot is an application which monitors the Mitsubishi Electric robots and supports maintenance departments in service planning and handling emergencies. The implemented notification system enables a quick response to any deviations from the correct operation.

Data collection from robots using standard Ethernet infrastructure

The system acquires diagnostic and process data from Mitsubishi Electric robots and, after processing, sends it to the application server.

  • Communication with robot controllers and their MELFA Smart Plus cards,
  • Utilization of a standard Ethernet ports of controllers of robots,
  • Monitoring of robots and their axes parameters in real-time,
  • Data pre-processing and buffering before sending data to the server.

Flexible architecture

The application is available in two options – as installation on a local server utilizing standard MS SQL database or as a cloud application using online services like MS Azure. Both versions have the same functionality and convenient web user interface.

  • Data logging to the factory’s local databases or to the cloud resources,
  • Lifetime license or subscription model with monthly payment,
  • Access via standard web browser,
  • Authentication methods and user management.

Monitoring the status of robots

The application shows a list of all connected robots with their operation status data, work statistics and alarms.

  • Summary of the status of all robots on one screen,
  • Overall evaluation of the robot’s condition as a percentage value,
  • Displaying a list of current alarms and notifications,
  • Browsing alarms by robot and timespan and filtering specific error numbers,
  • Exporting history of alarms to csv files,
  • Automatic e-mail notifications about situations that require attention.

Planning of maintenance activities

The collected data enables efficient maintenance scheduling based on real-time data from robots.

  • Easy generation of a collective maintenance report for all connected robots,
  • Informing about the dates of required service activities (checking the tension of belts, refilling the grease in reduction gears),
  • Calculations of the wear of robot components like ball screw, bearing and gearbox based on the actual operating conditions (with MELFA Smart Plus card),
  • Automatic reminders about the need of maintenance.

Condition monitoring

The system collects and archives the parameters of robots to diagnose deviations and disturbing trends.

  • Presentation of the parameters of individual axes in a selected time interval,
  • Configuration of thresholds for correct operation and alerting about exceeding them,
  • Comparing current values with reference values for a given process,
  • Detection of abnormalities with the use of machine learning algorithms (with MELFA Smart Plus card).

Reporting

The user can easily generate a report summarizing all the most important information from a selected period.

  • Manual and automatic report generation,
  • Displaying the summary of alarms and filtering by frequency of their occurrence,
  • List of all condition parameters and calculation of the average and maximum values in a selected period,
  • Showing the summary of the states, hours of operation and wear of the parts.

Backup management

The system has a built-in backup storage procedure for robot programs.

  • Overview of available backups for robots,
  • Saving backup files on a local drive, FTP server or in the cloud,
  • Verification of the compliance of the copy with the target system by the serial number of the robot,
  • Notification of the necessity to make a backup based on a set schedule.
