Production monitoring

e-F@ctory Information Center is an application which monitors the work of machines and production lines. The online measurements of effectiveness using the OEE indicator and extensive reporting make it an extremely useful tool when looking for production losses and optimizing costs. The modular structure makes the application easy to expand with new functionalities, while open architecture enables convenient connections to exchange data with other systems.

Collection of data from machines using network protocols or additional sensors

Data collection is performed by Mitsubishi Electric PLCs by communication protocols or I/O modules. They connect to machines and production lines in a factory and read the current status of the process.

    • Use of information collected on machine PLC controllers,
    • Connection with elements of the existing network infrastructure, e.g. sensors,
    • Installation of additional sensors, independent of the existing infrastructure,
    • Use of HMI panels to enter additional information by operators,
    • Data pre-processing and buffering before sending data to the server,
    • Separation of the production network from the company's network.

Archiving of recorded information and reporting

The system collects the received data in organized database structures and enables the generation of reports and trends.

    • Flexible structure and shape of reports,
    • Data collection in universal and popular MS SQL database,
    • Displaying data by any category (hour, day, shift, product, operator, machine, plant, etc..),
    • Exporting of reports and selected data to external files like pdf or csv,
    • Visual presentation of data on interactive SCADA diagrams and charts,
    • Access to dashboards using a standard web browser.

Measurement of the effectiveness of machines and production lines using the OEE indicator

Each machine is subject to ongoing evaluation of its performance according to the OEE indicator. The calculations take into account the availability of the machine, its efficiency and production quality.

    • Automatic calculation of indicators for different production periods (shift, batch, product, time, etc.),
    • Comparison of the online data with the reference values,
    • Collecting information about the number of correct and defective products,
    • Calculating the OEE for individual products and orders.

Monitoring and recording the operational status of machines

The application categorizes all machine states and keeps statistics of their occurrence in the time intervals selected by the user.

    • Monitoring the current operating status of all connected machines,
    • Recognition of stoppages, micro-stops and slow cycles,
    • Recording of scheduled and unscheduled events,
    • Graphical presentation of the history of machine states.

    Alarm system integration

The system collects alarms from connected machines and presents them to the user in a collective form. By assigning a specific alarm to a specific downtime, the user gets a clear link between the cause and the result.

    • Reading alarms from machine PLC controllers,
    • Manual input of alarms and comments by the operator on an additional HMI panel,
    • Filtering alarms according to priority, time of occurrence, duration,
    • Creating reports and exporting a list of alarms to a file.

    Loss time analysis

Each downtime is analyzed and described. The application calculates the losses and presents the summary of the most key factors.

    • Counting all stoppages and summing up their duration,
    • Displaying a list of the longest stoppages and alarms for a specific machine,
    • Displaying the summary of machine stops on bar and pie charts
